Porsche 962 C Rennwagen im EFA-Museum für Deutsche Automobilgeschichte in Amerang im Chiemgau

Im Vorfeld der für 1987 geltenden FISA-Vorschrift (Fédération Internationale du Sport Automobile) entwickelte Porsche den 956 zum 962 weiter. Beim Porsche 962 handelte es sich im Grunde genommen um einen Typ 956 mit neuer Pedalerie und mit einer um 12 cm nach vorne verlegten Vorderachse, sowie einen Stahlüberrollkäfig. Der Sechszylinder-Turbo war jetzt wassergekühlt und leistete 700 PS.
Eine technische Neuerung stellte das halbautomatische Porsche-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe, mit dem der 962 C wahlweise ausgerüstet wurde.
Auch am Championat hatte sich etwas geändert: Die Rennserie erhielt einen neuen Namen und hieß jetzt Sportwagen-Weltmeisterschaft. Nicht nur in Le Mans, auch in der Sportwagen-WM und in der amerikanischen IMSA setzte Porsche mit dem 962 C seine Siegesserie fort, die erst 1990 durch ein neues Handicap-Reglement zu Ende ging.
Ab 1991 fuhren dann Saugmotoren-Rennwagen um den Sieg. Nach 41 Siegen in der Sportwagen-WM und sechs Triumphen in Le Mans rollte mit dem Porsche 956/962 C der erfolgreichste Rennsportwagen aller Zeiten ins Museum.

At my parent’s neighborhood boat launch.
Taken with 3 exposures, with the ‘correct’ exposure underexposed by 1 stop. Merged to HDR in Photoshop CS3, then tonemapped with Photomatix. A little bit of touching up in Photoshop after tone mapping to clean up some blown highlights in the clouds.
